About Us

 

The Christian Science Literature Joint Distribution Committee in Bothell, Washington, is a joint activity of Christian Science churches and societies in the Seattle region. Its purpose is to provide ways and means to distribute literature in a common effort. While our primary focus is local, our activity is not limited to Washington State.

 

  • The mission of the activity is to distribute Christian Science literature to forward the Cause of Christian Science.

  • The Christian Science Literature Joint Distribution Committee held its first meeting on October 14, 1912. For most of its history it was based in downtown Seattle. It moved to Bothell in the late 1990s, and added a field office in the U-District in 2022.

  • This is an activity of churches that is directed by a Committee of representatives from Christian Science supporting churches and societies, overseen by an Advisory Board, and managed by an Administrator. It is registered as a non-profit organization in the State of Washington.

  • Local Christian Science branch churches and societies provide basic financial support for the activity. Additional operational funding comes from donations from individuals, churches, and other organizations, and grants from foundations.

  • Our main office is in the daylight basement of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Bothell. We now have an additional location in the University District in a comparable space at Third Church of Christ, Scientist, Seattle. Please call ahead before visiting either location.
